Tin Tabernacle, Kilburn, secures Heritage at Risk Grant with Trust support

We are delighted with the news that Notting Hill Genesis (NHG) has secured a Historic England Emergency Heritage at Risk Grant to undertake urgent repair works at the Tin Tabernacle in Kilburn.

LHBT supported NHG to identify the scope of the project and develop the grant application.

The Grade II-listed Tin Tabernacle is one of London’s last tin churches. Built in 1863 to serve the needs of the city’s fast-growing population, in the 1950s the church was converted into a training ship for use by the Sea Cadets. Historic England’s Emergency Risk Grant will be used for vital repair works to the Tin Tabernacle’s roof, and the completion of structural surveys.

Notting Hill Genesis has said:

“We are delighted that Historic England have stepped in to fund vital roof repairs at the Tin Tabernacle. It is so important that we protect the interior of this building over the winter while we are working with the local community to find a long term future for it.”

This funding is part of the Governments Culture Recovery Fund.
